Chalet is an amazing dog, she has the best movement
and conformation of any dog I have ever seen.
Chalet has a very unique pedigree, on her Sire's
side the Majestic line traces back to one of the top poodle breeders
in the USA. They have been producing AKC Champion poodles for more
than 30 years. Majestic Red Rogan was the 1st RED Standard
poodle to achieve his Championship title. On her Dam's side her
grandfather is and Irish Soft Coated Wheaten, he can be traced back
to a top producing kennel.
Our experience in breeding and showing dogs for more
than 13 years has taught us to keep conformation and soundness a top
priority. One of the conclusions that we have come to recognize in
the Australian Labradoodle is that many of the dogs have a long
back, or are considered long in loin. This will cause a weakness in
the back, and eventually lead to unsoundness. Following the founders
(Rutland Manor) vision, striving to always improve upon each and
every litter we produce, we began research and study on each
individual breed that make up the authentic Australian Labradoodle.
This research brought us to pay close attention to the Irish Soft
Coated Wheaten, we began a close study and observation of this
breed in action, mostly in the ring at dog shows. We have concluded
that the infusion of the SCW is invaluable in the Australian
Labradoodle. The SCW, has a strong back, he is a short coupled well
balanced study dog with great bone, and a slightly elevated ear set
all of these great attributes make him a perfect dog to infuse into
the Australian Labradoodle.
Seeking an Australian Labradoodle with all of the
best possible attributes, we imported Rutlands Chalet from
Australia. Chalet is everything that we hoped for an more. Her
movement is flawless, with correct structure beautiful balance,
great bone and deep broad chest. Her topline is level and strong,
not too short nor too long but just right. Her front is straight,
with strong pasterns and well arched toes. The rear is well balanced
with the front assembly, with good angulation. Her ear set is
slightly more elevated than most AL, thus better air flow for a
healthier ear.
Her personality is true to the Characteristics of
the best Australian Labadoodles, she is highly intelligent,
extremely intuitive. She is loving and affectionate seeking her
human companionship. She is always the comic entertaining us with
her antics. We are so thrilled to have her as part of our family she
has brought us much joy, we love to take her on outings.
We are looking forward to her first litter in early
2009, they will be very unique and promise to be of the very best
quality, simply magnificent. Watch for details.
IRISH
SOFT COATED WHEATEN TERRIER
BRIEF HISTORICAL
SUMMARY
: The history of the
Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier has been somewhat obscured by
its closeness to the other Irish Terrier breeds. The Wheaten is
probably the oldest of the four breeds. Its existence for at
least 200 years can be inferred from textual references to
"soft‑coated" dogs. The relation of the modern Irish Terrier to
the Wheaten, though less well documented, appears to have been
the result of deliberate breeding experiments. So the humble
Wheaten probably has a fairly mixed ancestry. Despite the long
history of the Wheaten, it wasn't until 1937, that the Soft
Coated Wheaten was officially recognised by the Irish Kennel
Club. The breed has grown steadily in popularity since and is
now well known world-wide.
GENERAL APPEARANCE
: A hardy, active, short coupled dog, well built, giving the
idea of strength. Not too leggy nor too low to the ground.
BEHAVIOUR /
TEMPERAMENT
: Spirited and game. Good tempered. Most affectionate and
loyal to his owners. Most intelligent. A trusty, faithful
friend, defensive without aggression.
UTILIZATION
: Wheaten Terriers were always used by small farmers to kill
vermin or help with the work about the farm. They were used for
a long time in the difficult job of hunting badgers and otters.
